History: The January 2025 wildfires that impacted Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena caused large-scale residential and commercial losses across Los Angeles County. Combined, the Palisades and Eaton fires destroyed roughly 16,000–18,000 total structures (homes, commercial buildings, and other properties). The Palisades Fire, which burned through Pacific Palisades and parts of Malibu, accounted for about 6,800+ structures destroyed, the majority being residential homes but also including commercial properties and community buildings. The Eaton Fire in Altadena was even more destructive in terms of volume, destroying approximately 9,000–9,400 structures, including an estimated 6,000+ homes alone. Overall, about 11,000 of the destroyed structures were residential properties, with the remainder consisting of commercial buildings, schools, and other infrastructure, highlighting the significant impact on both housing supply and local business environments in these communities.
